PUPPY SCHOOL

I offer Puppy School at Southern Rangitikei Veterinary Services (SRVS), SH 1, Bulls.

Classes are aimed at puppies between the ages of 8 – 16 weeks and cost $115 per puppy.

Being a puppy is one of the most important stages in a dogs’ life. It’s the vital age to start training and socializing the puppy because everything the puppy sees and experiences will have a great effect on how he behaves as an adult.

Puppy school consists of 5 one hour lessons over 5 weeks where you and your pup will learn many things in a fun, friendly environment. Owners will be introduced to the method of canine communication and puppies will be taught some basic commands and socialization skills.

I do encourage the whole family to participate, so that all members of the family, even young children learn how to interact with the family dog.  However, due to space limitation, please limit to three people per puppy.

CANINE LIFE SKILLS CLASS

Canine Life Skills Classes are for dogs over 6 months of age.  They’ll learn the skills they need to be well-mannered dogs.

It also gives your dogs a chance to socialize with other dogs plus it’s some ‘fun’ time for you and your dog to spend together – and it’s held undercover!!

Classes will cover the following:

Loose leash walking

Settling on a mat

Targeting – focus and impulse control

Coming when called

Greet a person while on lead

To get the most out of these classes, you should be prepared to practice at home as well as during the classes.

Classes will be held at my premises in Halcombe – only 10 minutes from Bulls, Marton and Feilding and 20 mins from Palmerston North.  They’ll be held on Sunday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30am  and run for 4 weeks. The classes will be small (maximum of 5 dogs) so I can give each dog and owners plenty of attention.

The cost for the four week course is $90.00 per dog and will be held undercover, so no worries about the weather!

ONLINE TRAINING COURSE

If you’re not able to physically get to training classes, the next best thing is online training.

Communicanine has teamed up with three British dog training experts to offer you a 6 week online course:

GOOD DOG – LEVEL 1

This course is for dogs of any age but remember, if your puppy hasn’t had his or her final vaccination yet, the training must be done at home.

For $80, and 5 minutes a day at a time that suits you, this course includes a Facebook support group and e-mail support from me.
